How Paper Trading Works
Real:
- Prices: real, live updates
- Liquidity: real spreads
- Fees: calculated
- Money: virtual "balance" (usually $10,000)
Virtual:
- Orders DON'T go to exchange
- No real money spent
- No real fees charged
Example Paper Trading Session
Bot in Paper Trading:
Starting balance: $10,000 (virtual)
Day 1: Bot buys $100 BTC @ $40,000
Balance: $10,000 - $100 - $0.02 (fee) = $9,899.98
Day 2: Price rises to $42,000
Virtual position: +$200 profit
Balance if sold: $10,099.98
Day 3: Bot sells at TP
Balance: $10,100 (after fees)
Status: +1% ROI
When to Switch to Real Trading?
✅ Switch When:
- Bot worked 2+ weeks in Paper Trading
- ROI positive (even +5% is good)
- Understand what might happen
- Ready for emotions (different from demo)
❌ Don't Switch When:
- Bot < 1 week old
- Bot losing money in Paper
- Don't understand parameters
- Can't afford to lose the capital

Common Paper Trading Questions
Q: Why Different Results Than Real?
A: Main reasons:
- Spread: Paper has minimal, real can be wider
- Liquidity: big orders might fill worse
- Fees: calculated but might differ
Expect: real results ~5–15% worse than Paper.
Q: Can I Stay in Paper Forever?
A: No, this defeats purpose. Paper Trading is preparation for real trading.
Real trading teaches you emotions that demo can't.
Q: How Often Reload Demo Balance?
A: Don't reload. Use same balance to simulate real.
If you "fail" on $10k demo, you'd fail on real too.
